HOW TO READ THE RESULT

From source values to a physical scale mark.

The calculator performs two connected operations. It first derives concentration from total material content and total liquid volume. It then converts the amount specified by a protocol into volume and the reading used by the selected measuring tool.

Calculation sequence

  1. Select the exact pen or syringe type whose scale will be used.
  2. Enter the total material content stated on the label or in the batch documentation.
  3. Enter the final liquid volume. For the V3 pen, this is the complete 3 mL cartridge.
  4. Enter the amount for one protocol aliquot and compare the exact result with the nearest full division.

Four different scales

V3 pen: the full 3 mL is divided into 100 clicks, making each click equal to 0.03 mL.

1 mL U100 syringe: 100 units represent 1 mL and one unit represents 0.01 mL.

0.5 mL U100 syringe: it uses the same U100 standard, but its scale ends at 50 units.

3 mL syringe: the result is reported directly in mL and µL; the physical graduation depends on the specific product.

Key distinctions and limitations.

Why is the V3 pen volume always 3 mL?

The calculator models the full 3 mL cartridge used by the V3 pen. Its scale contains 100 clicks, so one click represents 0.03 mL.

Why can the exact result and nearest mark differ?

The exact result is a mathematical value. The nearest mark shows a setting available on the selected tool and the amount of material represented by that setting.

What does the very small reading warning mean?

The warning appears when the result is below two full divisions of the selected tool. Such a small reading may be difficult to reproduce consistently.

Does the calculator include losses and dead volume?

No. It reports a theoretical result and does not include dead volume, transfer losses, scale tolerance or uncertainty in the actual material content.
